cre8audio Boom Chick

Analog drum computer

Boom Chick is a revolutionary analog drum machine built on the warmth and character of Pittsburgh Modular’s newly developed analog drum circuits. These new analog circuits have been combined with a sequencer that’s immediately fun and easy to use, but also offers plenty of depth for those who want to dig deeper. Beyond the massive sound, what’s most appealing is how effortless it is to start jammingcontrolling the drums with per-function knobs and the handy sequencer make it very intuitive, but if you want to explore the advanced features, there’s a lot to discover, and it’s worth it.

A classic drum machine with fresh, powerful sounds and the opportunity for deeper exploration. All in a stunningly compact package.

These powerful, expressive percussion voices are paired with an advanced sequencer designed for intuitive creativity and deep rhythmic exploration. Inspired by the practicality of legendary analog drum machines, Boom Chick redefines analog percussion with exceptional flexibility and sonic precision, tailored to modern musicians and producers.

Compact yet incredibly powerful, Boom Chick’s intuitive knob-per-function layout and simple operating conventions ensure frustration-free jamming and tweaking. Practical and straightforward, Boom Chick was designed for musicians who want a drum machine that feels alive. Turn up the dirt and make some noise!

Handcrafted Analog Circuitry by Pittsburgh Modular

Developed by the Pittsburgh Modular Synthesizers team, Boom Chick features five carefully crafted drum voices, each engineered for maximum flexibility and expressiveness. The sounds are raw, dynamic, and laser-sharp, ready to cut and slice through any mix. The electricity used to create the analog sounds is shaped directly via the interface with the knobs per function. No menus, no hassle, just pure, tactile analog beatmaking magic at the touch of a button. By focusing on creative, new analog designs, Pittsburgh Modular has ensured that Boom Chick doesn’t just emulate the past, but ushers in a new future for analog beats.

Break Down, the Sound of Boom Chick

Each voice has been carefully crafted for maximum sonic impact, making Boom Chick a true drum synth rather than just a drum machine. The kick drum begins with a massive bass range and shapes a specialized sine wave oscillator that uses dark overdrive, pitch manipulation, and a precise, percussive envelope, allowing you to create anything from deep and long or clean and punchy rhythms to aggressive, overdriven beats. The snare drum demonstrates the power of modern analog technology with powerful snare hits that can mimic a real snare drum or explore new creative avenues. Drum channels 1 and 2 offer even more possibilities for sound design. With two oscillators, waveshaping, frequency modulation, and noise, you can create everything from subtle, nuanced percussion to wild, expressive sonic textures. Toms, claps, snares, kicks, cymbals, rimshots, cowbells, congas, claves, and space sounds can be adjusted and redesigned. Hats use a dedicated oscillator noise matrix to create clear, bright metallic sounds ideal for intricate rhythmic patterns.

A modern sequencer for limitless beats

Boom Chick’s sequencer is designed to offer great depth while remaining intuitively easy to use. It features two powerful modes: Step Mode for meticulous programming of each individual drum step, and Live Mode for real-time rhythm creation and expressive performance. Tools like Step Shift enable quick and precise timing adjustments for intricate rhythmic patterns, while Step Roll and Chance add fascinating complexity and variation. Timing features like Humanize, Swing, and Quantize offer refined control over groove and rhythm, enabling perfectly locked or naturally loose-sounding sequences. Swing adds more groove by shifting steady steps slightly behind the beat, while Humanize introduces subtle timing variations to simulate natural playing styles. With up to 64 step sequences and polyrhythm features, Boom Chick encourages experimentation by removing the boundaries of live performance and beatmaking.
